I am thinking of flying into lisbon (portugal) and then just working my way across to turkey, in the order of portugal spain italy greece, then turkey, and than flying back home from there. Is the best way to do this by train? Should I buy a cheap used car and just drive my way across?

Train would be easier, and the rail system in most of europe is good (check the europass to see if it works for you). buying a car would probably be a red tape nightmare, since you’d have to conform to the regulations of five different governments. Also look at to make low-cost reservations. Enjoy!
